Winter Fishing

Yes, fishing in the winter is a great way to get out and enjoy the winter landscapes!  Actually, winter is one of the best times of year to fish our rivers, lakes and streams.  Ice fishing and fly fishing in the Vail Valley are unique experiences that should not be missed. There are plenty of places in the Vail Valley with gorgeous scenery such as Sylvan Lake, Gypsum Ponds State Wildlife Area. The ice fishing experience is unbelievably pleasant and it only requires warm gear such as ski jackets, snow pants, sunglasses, gloves, and hats to provide the necessary warmth for the entire day.

Looking for a guide?  A guide will know what kind of flies to use, where to cast your line and where to go for the best fishing spots in the Vail Valley. From half-day wades on small intimate waters to full-day adventures and everything in between, your guide can custom plan your winter fishing trip.
